League Participation Requirements:
- GMs are asked to answer all PMs within a timley manner
- GMs are asked to vote on all standing trades
- GMs MUST correct any incomplete rosters/lines prior to their next scheduled game
- If a GM does NOT correct their incomplete roster/lines before their next scheduled game and the sim is forced to run the auto function then you will recieve one "strike" against. This may occur due to an injury, trade, suspension etc...If you accumulate three strikes then you're out, simple!
- This league encourages participation. If you do not follow your team closely and change lines accordingly your team will suffer
Sim Schedule:
- Games will be simmed once a day pertaining to the league schedule, otherwise noted on the Msg board
- GMs are encouraged to send in lines changes as often as they'd like
- Teams with injured/suspended players/incomplete rosters that don't correct their lines between upcoming games will have their roster/lines autoed by the program for the upcoming sim
Rosters:
- Active Roster Minimum - 35
- Active Roster Maximum - 50
- Goaltender Minimum - 3
- Pro Roster Maximum - 23 (20 Starters/3 Scratched)
Line Restrictions:
- No more than 3 individual forwards, and no more than 2 individual defensemen may appear on NO MORE than two even strength lines
- No player may appear on more than 1 line of either specialty unit (PP/PK separately accounted for)
Goaltender Restrictions:
- Maximum Individual Goalie Starts - 65 (regular season only)
- Starts can be exceeded only if individually exceeded the previous NHL season
- Minimum Goals Against For Pull - 3 (regular season only)
- If a goalie exceeds the starts limit and you send in lines with said goalie he will manually be switched out
- You can keep track of your goalie starts on This Page
Ratings:
-This league currently uses two sets of ratings. We create our own set of ratings for the forwards and defense, and we use LCHV ratings for the goalies. The reason we do that is this.....we prefer to use ratings that only rate players who played in the previous season. The problem with that is only around 80-90 goalies play a season, and with 26 teams there simply wouldn't be enough goalies to go around. Because of this we use the goalie ratings from LCHV because they also include goalies who played in the AHL
Salaries/Contract Lengths:
- Player salaries were based upon the original ratings package that this league applied and have since changed due to free agency
- The minimum salary is $500,000
- The maximum salary is $10,000,000
- Once the playoffs are over and the cup has been won, all players will then age 1 birth year and 1 contract year.
Example: Brendan Shanahan -
In this "current season" Shanahan is 34 with a 2 year contract
At playoffs end he will then be 35 with 1 year reamaining on his contract
Salary Cap:
- The salary cap for the current season (19 - 20) is $58,000,000
- The salary cap accounts for BOTH pro and farm teams COMBINED
- If the salary cap is exceeded you will have until your next scheduled game to bring your team back under the cap by way of trade, player dropping, sending players to the farm. The sim can NOT run games when a team that is over cap is playing a game on any schedule day. If you do not make this correction by your next game then I will have no choice but to make it for you, otherwise I can NOT run any games at all! This correction may include sending a player to the farm, possibly having to pass through waivers, or unfortunately dropping one of your players. Obviously that is not the choice anyone would prefer, however if I have no other options then it will be done. If you do not exceed the cap then you will not be penalized!
- One week before the day of the trade deadline the salary cap will increase by $5,000,000. This will allow playoff contending teams to "bulk" up their rosters (while not so drastically) to make a playoff run. As well as allowing teams to "dump" players in the last years of their contracts for salary purposes and clear room for potential FA's in the offseason
- The extra $5,000,000 will remain in effect for the next seasons free agency period. After free agency is over the extra $5,000,000 will be removed from the league cap
- You can view your teams current payroll and available cap room by going to the "Finance" page. From there scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page where there is a section called "Payroll Central". The "Payroll" column shows your teams total payroll, and the "Under Maximum Of" column is how much available cap room you have. Please ignore the "Current Fund" column as it does not apply
Retiring Players:
- Players will be removed from your team one schedule year after they have retired from the NHL. For example, if a player retires on the 75th day of the NHL season he will then be removed from your team after games are run on day 75 of our following season.
Upcoming retirement dates can be found in THIS THREAD
Players Playing In Other Leagues/Countries:
- The ratings package that this league applies only rates players who have played at least one game in the previous NHL season. If you have a player on your team who last season did NOT play in the NHL then he will NOT be included in the next ratings package.
- If a player who was on your team is not included in the new ratings package then they will be removed from your team and placed on your prospect list. Your team still holds the rights to these players and if they ever decide to return to the NHL and once again get rated, they will continue with the remaining years and salary of their previous contract.
- All these players are kept track of in your team clubhouse in the link "Under Contract".
Players on your prospect list may be deleted off your list at any time provided they meet 1 of the 4 following criteria...
1. The players does NOT reside on your "Under Contract" link in your clubhouse
2. The player does reside on your "Under Contract" link, yet has NOT played any North American hockey within the last 5 seasons
3. The player does reside on your "Under Contract" link, yet is listed as "RFA"
4. Per TSN they are officially listed as retired
Dropping Players (Contract Buyouts):
- You may drop players (buyout their contracts) from your team at anytime. Dropped players will count 35% of the players salary against your teams cap room for the remaining years on the players contract. When you drop a player please realize that the following 2 things will occur.....
1. You will be charged 35% of the players salary against your teams cap room for the remaining years on the players contract. These numbers will be added to your teams "Special Salary Cap Value" and accounted for within the sim. You can view your cumulative total on your teams "Finance" page under "Expense". As well you can view more detailed info in your team clubhouse in the link "Cap Hit".
2. The player will be removed from your team and placed on the "Drop Board" for a 2 day period. This can be found in the "Dropped Players" link on the left hand side of the website. If within 2 days no team claims that player he will then receive a 35% salary reduction and be placed on the unassigned list. During the offseason players will be placed on unassigned immediately and added to FA if guidlines are met.
- Dropping players is done on the Msg board. The appropriate thread can be found by clicking on the "Rules, Players, Official Biz" section, and then the thread titled "Dropped Players With Contracts"
* - Players residing in your "Cap Hit" link in your clubhouse may NOT be bid on during free agency and/or claimed from unassigned. You may however reacquire said player through trade. BUT you will NOT be able to drop that player again thus creating two cap hits for the same player.
Claiming Unassigned/Dropped/Waiver Players:
- Players residing on the "Unassigned List" may be claimed at anytime. To do so you must send a PM to Gavin (Hawks) stating the player you wish to claim, as well as designate their contract length based on FA age/contract guidlines. If you do not designate a contract length then the player will recieve 1 year
- If you are claiming a goalie who is listed with a two-year contract, and you are the only team who submits a claim for that goalie, you will get him with the two years. If a goalie listed with a two-year contract must receive a silent bid, you are then allowed to designate the contract years in your bid, based on Free Agency rules under the age guidelines for contracts.
-When signing players 29 and under from unassigned their minimum contract length will be based on salary for both a standard claim or a silent bid.....
$1,000,000 or less = Minimum 1 year deal
$1,000,001 - $2,500,000 = Minimum 2 year deal
$2,500,001 - $4,500,000 = Minimum 3 year deal
$4,500,001 or more = Minimum 4 year deal
- For more info on the process of claiming "Unassigned Players" please visit THIS THREAD
- Recently "Dropped Players" will appear and remain on the "Drop Board" for a 2 day period. If no other team makes a claim for a particular player within the 2 day period, then he will be yours at his current salary/contract. If two or more GMs put in a claim for the same player then it will go to a "bid system". Each of the claiming GMs will put in a bid for the player (years and salary) based on the players existing salary (you cannot bid under it). The GM who offers a better contract based on the highest monetary value per season (per free agent rules) will be awarded the player. You will NOT know what team(s) you are bidding against, nor will you know the competing bids. The "Dropped Players" board can be found in the "Dropped Players" link on the left hand side of the website. Claims for these players are to be sent through PM to Gavin (Hawks)
- Players placed on "Waivers" will appear in the "Waivers" link on the left side of the website. Players placed on waivers will reside there for a 2 day period, in which teams have to make a claim. Claims for waived players will be awarded based on priority order as displayed in the waivers link. Claims for these players are to be sent through PM to Gavin (Hawks)
* - Players residing in your "Cap Hit" link in your clubhouse may NOT be claimed from unassigned. You may however reacquire said player through trade. BUT you will NOT be able to drop that player again thus creating two cap hits for the same player.
Trading:
- All trades will be voted on by the entire league. The result of the vote is the result of your trade. A tie vote = rejected
- All trades are to be submitted to Gavin (Hawks) through PM on the message board, or by e-mailing Gavin @ Zenn3000@comcast.net. Both teams must submit!
- You may NOT vote on your own trades
Coaches:
- Coaches WILL be used in this league and WILL have an effect on your team
- Each team will have one coach for your Pro team and one coach for your Farm team
- All coaches will have an equal base salary that will NOT reflect on your salary cap
- Coaches are to be realistic.....retired, current coaches (not dead), former players etc.....no Puff Daddy!
Coaching attributes will be calculated as follows:
- Each coach will start off with 50 points in each of 6 categories; Physical, Defense, Offense, Player Discipline, Experience, Leadership
- You will then be awarded 185 points (per coach) to distribute however you like amongst the 6 categories
- You are free to change your attribute point distribution or coach at any time by sending a PM to "AvsGM"
- You may change your ratings attributes and/or coach no more than 3 times per season, including the playoffs
Position Change Requests:
- While you are allowed to play a player "out of position" (except a goalie), please keep in mind that any player that plays in another position other than as designated in the Sim program (a Center at LW, a RW on Defense etc...) will receive a ratings "penalty" on his attributes. This is automatically done by the Sim program in order to compensate for a player playing out of his "natural" position. However, the amount of penalty that a player receives to his attributes while playing out of position is unknown. You are free to change the position of any player (except a goalie), provided you can show proof that the player is eligible to play the position you are trying to change him to. To find proof that your player is eligible to play your requested new position, you must refer to one of the 3 reputable websites as listed below for their position eligibility...
www.tsn.ca/nhl
www.nhl.com
www.espn.com/nhl
- Once you have your proof of position for your change request, send a PM on the MSG Board to the Jon ("AvsGM"), including your position change request, along with the link to your player showing proof of eligibility for your new position request, provided from 1 of the 3 links above
Playoffs:
- Three days of rest are given from season end to playoff start
- The playoff seeding format mirrors that of the NHL
- Game days alternate by conference
- Two days of rest are given before the finals
- Finals games are simmed every other day with one day of rest between games
- There will be an extra day of rest given after games 2 and 5 (if necessary)
Seeding:
D1A vs. W2
D1B vs. W1
D2 vs. D3
Farm Teams:
- Farm teams will be used in this league
For the most part farm teams are for "entertainment" value. They hold no significant bearing on this league other than to see your young players perform against other teams young players, almost like a prospect league so to speak.
The more players you have on your farm team, the more productive it will be. If a team that has 20 players on its farm roster is playing a team that only has 6 players on its farm roster, the score might be 15-2. Please keep in mind that there are a few things you SHOULD know about farm teams...
Things You Should Know About The Farm Teams:
- Players placed on the farm team will make 10% of their pro salary, regardless of age or rating, thus increasing or decreasing your team payroll(salary cap) wether they are moved to your active roster or farm team
- Because the "Farm Stats Change Active" option IS enabled, players playing on your farm team may see a slight increase OR decrease in their ratings during the season
- The maximum +/- for any attribute change is 4
- Any increase in attributes may result in an increase of a players OV, which could put them over the OV farm restriction, thus causing them to be automatically moved from the farm to the pro roster
- Because of this feature you are not required to insert your players on farm lines
The 2-Way Contract:
- Once a player has appeared in 20 regular season games his FULL salary will apply to your team payroll wether he is on your active roster OR farm team, regardless of age or rating
Clearing Waivers When Sent To The Farm:
- 1. Minimum Games Played: 20 - Minimum number of games a player has to play to be considered eligible for waivers
- 2. Age Exemption: 23 - Age, under which, a player will be exempt from waivers regardless of games played
So what that means is, a player can pass freely to and from the pro and farm teams until he has played in 20 "NHL" games. Once a player has appeared in 20 games
he will then have to clear waivers (in which teams have 2 days to claim the player) before he can be sent down to the farm, where he will recieve full salary. BUT, if a player is 23 or under, he can pass
to and from the farm freely, without the risk of having to be put on waivers. But, will still get FULL salary once he appears in 20 "NHL" games
Farm OV Restriction:
- Any F/D rated 68 or higher will be restricted from being sent to the farm team
- Any G rated 78 or higher will be restricted from being sent to the farm team
Entry Draft:
- The entry draft consists of 5 rounds/26 picks per round, always 1-26
- The entry draft will take place AFTER free agency, BEFORE the season starts
- You may ONLY draft players who have been selected in the previous NHL draft
- The lottery system IS enabled for the draft. The lottery system works as follows.....
The lottery is conducted by taking all teams who did not make the previous season's playoffs (10). Teams are weighted according to how badly they performed in the previous season (i.e. the worst teams get more ballots). Teams are then drawn and the order is set. Only one team will win the lottery. The most spots any team can move up is nine. Therefore every team in the lottery has a chance at getting the #1 overall pick, provided they win the lottery. Percentages for winning the lottery are as follows...
Last Place - 21.86%
2nd Worst - 14.75%
3rd Worst - 12.57%
4th Worst - 10.38%
5th Worst - 9.29%
6th Worst - 8.20%
7th Worst - 7.10%
8th Worst - 6.56%
9th Worst - 5.46%
10th Worst - 3.83%
- The ENTIRE DRAFT will be "live". Set draft times will be posted several days before the draft. You will have 30 minutes to make your pick once your team is on the clock. As draft times will be known in advance you can either make plans to make your selection or prepare a list if you know you won't be able to get on the board at that time. If you miss your pick then it will be moved to the END of round 5! If you still do not make a selection at that time, then the highest available remaining player will be selected for you. You do NOT need to wait the entire 30 minutes to make your pick, if it's your turn then make your pick so we can move on! The draft is conducted through the Msg board
- For more info on the draft process visit THIS THREAD
Unrated Prospects:
- Prospects/players NOT rated in this league will NOT have a contract length. These players will remain property of their teams and will receive a salary as designated by the payscale below, and will receive a 3 year contract once they are rated. Goalies who are activated but yet to play an NHL game will receive a 2 year contract.

Finances (NOT Salary Cap related):
- The only finances that this league applies is a hard salary cap. Each team has the same salary cap to work within and spend on players. Unlike other leagues you can NOT lose your team if you fall in the negative, nor do we give out "TV contracts" or have "Training Camps" to give out free attribute points. In this league our focus is fielding the most competitive team while staying under the salary cap, plain and simple.
- Of course you are more than welcome to follow your own other financial areas if that part of the game interests you. Each team starts the season with $50,000,000 and you are free to adjust your ticket prices within the GM editor.
- In the future we might decide to implement more in depth rules/guidlines for finances, but for now this is how it remains
Offseason Schedule:
- New ratings installed
- Farm salaries = 100%
- Entry draft order established
- Trading/Dropping players open for 2 weeks
- Dropping players closed until season starts (trading stays open)
- 24 under re-signs
- Optional RFA re-sign
- Open FA on RFA/UFA for 2 weeks
- Under cap unassigned claims for 1 week (the claiming of any player may NOT exceed the cap)
----------------------------------------------------------
- Cap lowered to 58mil/Farm salaries = 10%
- All teams may claim remaining unassigned players (stays open)
- Entry Draft
- Teams must be under cap for season start
- Minimum roster requirements must be met for season start
- Start season/Dropping players re-opens
Free Agency:
- Players are eligible for free agency once their contract expires
- Free Agents may be bid on by any team provided it does not exceed the salary cap set for free agency
- Before open free agency begins, each team will be allowed to re-sign 1 RFA (25-30) at a salary increase of 25% AFTER the RFA payscale has been applied (see below)
- Re-signed RFAs may recieve a MAXIMUM contract of 3 years
- Before open free agency begins, any skater who currently resides on the "Unassigned List" and meets the age guidlines of a UFA and has a rating of 62OV+ will now be placed on the FA board for open bidding
- Before open free agency begins, any goalie who currently resides on the "Unassigned List" and meets the age guidlines of a UFA and has a rating of 72OV+ will now be placed on the FA board for open bidding
How To Bid On Free Agents:
Bidding on free agents is done through the message board. All free agents are broken into the specific category of free agent that they fall under. Before free agency starts all of your players will be moved to your pro roster, and all of your players who are under contract will have their salaries totaled, thus equaling your current team payroll. This will then be subtracted from the current league salary cap for the upcoming season, thus establishing your available money to spend during free agency
Your available money will be posted in the appropriate section on the message board and will be updated nightly (NOT live) to account for the current bids you have on the board. It is up to YOU to keep track of have much you have available against how much you have out in bids when bidding during the day. Again like I said, nightly we will go through all of the free agents and eliminate all but the current highest bid and update your available money. However, during each day of free agency it is up to YOU to know where you started with available money and how much you have left to bid
If you have placed a bid on a player during the day, only to have that offer outbid, then you once again have that money to spend, but YOU must keep track of that!
Here are some examples:
Example 1:
You start the day with $15,000,000 available to you. You place a bid of 5mil on player A, a bid of 5mil on player B, a bid of 2mil on player C, you now have 3mil left to make bids with
If another team then places a higher bid on player A then you have that money back and now have 8mil left to make bids
Example 2:
You start the day with $15,000,000 available to you. You place a bid of 5mil on player A, a bid of 5mil on player B, a bid of 7mil on player C, you now have gone 2mil OVER your available limit. If we notice this at the end of the day when free agency closes, your bid will be removed, the money put back into your account, and the previous high bidder (before you made your illegal bid) will become the current high bidder
- You are NOT allowed to edit your bids. If we find a bid to have been edited then it will be INVALID. If you made a typo or a slight mistake then you must alert either "Hawks" or "AvsGM" on the Msg Board
- You are NOT allowed to delete and bids you have made. If we see that you have deleted a bid then you will no longer be eligible to bid any further on that player
- After the initial bid on a player, if the player goes an entire day without a new bid he will then go "Pending" (denoted as $Player Name$), if he then goes an entire second day without a bid he will then be "Closed"
- The minimum raise when bidding on a player is $100k
To bid on a player that is set to close that day (marked as $) you must make a minimum raise of $250k (first bid only)
To bid on a player that is set to close that day (marked as $) AND you have NOT previously bid on that player then you must make a minimum raise of $500k (first bid only)
If the player was a UFA he will be awarded to the highest bidder
If the player was a RFA he will either be re-signed by his original team, or the original GM will decide to take the compensation package
- For more info on the process of Free Agent Bidding please visit THIS THREAD
Free Agency Contract Length/Signing Guidlines:
Group 1: - 24 And Under
- When their contracts expire they can be re-signed for a MAXIMUM of 4 years. If you choose not to re-sign the player then they will be added to the Unassigned List after free agency has completed. Teams owning these players have first rights, there is NO compensation
- When a player 24 And Under ONLY enters Free Agency their new minimum salary will be determined by the payscale chart below. If the players current salary is higher than the payscale determines it should be for the following season, then both salaries will be averaged to determine the players minimum salary (examples below)
24 and Under RFA Payscale Chart - Based On OV Rating:
Skaters:
66 OV or less - 500,000
67 OV - 1 mil
68 OV - 1.5 mil
69 OV - 2 mil
70 OV - 3 mil
71 OV - 4 mil
72 OV - 5 mil
73 OV - 5.5 mil
74 + OV - 6 mil
Goalies:
76 OV or less - 500,000
77 OV - 1 mil
78 OV - 1.5 mil
79 OV - 2 mil
80 OV - 3 mil
81 OV - 4 mil
82 OV - 5 mil
83 OV - 5.5 mil
84 + OV - 6 mil
Example 1:
Joe Johnson is a 24 and under free agent. Last season he made $2,000,000, however his new OV rating is a 70, therefore according to the chart his new yearly salary would be $3,000,000
Example 2:
Joe Johnson is a 24 and under free agent. Last season he made $2,000,000, however his new OV rating is a 66, therefore according to the chart his new yearly salary should be $1,000,000. However, as mentioned above, because his prior years salary was higher, we would then average both salaries to determine the players current salary. $2,000,000 + $1,000,000 / 2 = $1,500,000. Old higher salary + new lower salary divided by two
Group 2: - 25 - 30
- When the contracts of this group run out any team can bid on these players, and if the player leaves his old team then the old team is awarded compensation as listed below. The MAXIMUM term for this contract can be 4 years(ex: 4years/$3 million per). The highest overall money bid will be forwarded to the players present owner. The present owner will then have the option of matching the bid or letting the player go and acquiring the specified compensation. If no bid is placed on a player the owner can either re-sign him or release him. If the player is released he becomes part of the Unassigned List and no compensation will be paid to the team
- When a player 25 - 30 ONLY enters Free Agency their new minimum salary will be determined by the payscale chart below. If the players current salary is higher than the payscale determines it should be for the following season, then both salaries will be averaged to determine the players minimum salary (examples below)
25 - 30 RFA Payscale Chart - Based On OV Rating:
Skaters:
66 OV or less - 500,000
67 OV - 1 mil
68 OV - 1.5 mil
69 OV - 2 mil
70 OV - 3 mil
71 OV - 4 mil
72 OV - 5 mil
73 OV - 5.5 mil
74 + OV - 6 mil
Goalies:

77 OV - 1 mil
78 OV - 1.5 mil
79 OV - 2 mil
80 OV - 3 mil
81 OV - 4 mil
82 OV - 5 mil
83 OV - 5.5 mil
84 + OV - 6 mil
Example 1:
Joe Johnson is a Group 2 (25-30) RFA. Last season he made $2,000,000, however his new OV rating is a 70, therefore according to the chart his new yearly salary would be $3,000,000
Example 2:
Joe Johnson is a Group 2 (25-30) RFA. Old higher salary + new lower salary divided by two
- Please remember that the one player you use your RFA re-sign on will also have 35% added on to their new determined salary. So in the case of Example 1 the salary would then be $4,050,000. In the case of Example 2 the salary would then be $2,025,000
Restricted Free Agent Compensation Chart - Based On Salary Offered:
Skaters/Goalies:
$500k - $999,999 = 3rd Round Pick within the next 2 years (current entry draft or '21)
$1,000,000 - $1,999,999 = 2nd Round Pick within the next 2 years (current entry draft or '21)
$2,000,000 - $3,999,999 = 1st AND 2nd Round Pick within the next 2 years (current entry draft or '21) - 1st round pick MUST be in the upcoming entry draft
$4,000,000 - $6,499,999 = Two 1st round picks AND one 2nd Round Pick within the next 2 years (current entry draft or '21) - ONE 1st round pick MUST be in the upcoming entry draft
$6,500,000+ = Three 1st round picks AND one 2nd Round Pick within the next 3 years (current entry draft, '21 or '22) - ONE 1st round pick MUST be in the upcoming entry draft
In each of the cases above, if a team has more than one applicable draft pick that meets that criteria, the team who LOSES the player will choose which one he wants.
If you do not have the appropriate compensation then you can NOT make a bid!
Ways To Re-sign Your Own Group 2 RFAs:
1. You place THE initial offer on your player with contract years, no less than their current salary. In two days if there are no further bids and the player closes, then he is yours.
2. You place THE initial offer on your player with contract years, no less than their current salary. Another GM places a higher offer on your player. In two days if there are no further bids and the player closes, then you will have the option to match the current offer or take compensation. There is no reason to re-bid on your own player, as you will have the option to match the highest bid once the player closes. The only reason to do so would be to increase the years designated by the previous bidder.
3. Another GM places THE initial bid on your RFA, if in 2 days there are no more bids and the player closes, you will then have the option to match the current offer or take compensation. You will have 24-hours to make your decision. So if the player closes Wednesday @ 10PM you have until Thursday @ 10PM to inform Gavin of your decision. If you do not then you will lose the player and be given the compensation.
4. You and/or no other GM places a bid on your player. You have until 10pm(EST) of the last day of free agency to have placed a bid. If on the final day of free agency you have NOT placed a bid on your player and free agency has CLOSED, then the player will be placed on the unassigned list @ 75% their current salary, no less than 500k.
In all of the above cases you MUST have enough cap room to re-sign these players!!!
Group 3: - 31 And Up
- When contracts of this group expire they become Unrestricted Free Agents. This means no compensation will be awarded to the old team.
- Players will sign with the highest bid, 3 YEAR MAXIMUM CONTRACT
Free Agency Signing Guidlines:
- Free Agents sign with the highest monetary value per season. Contracts offers are based on years and salary per season:.
Example: Brendan Shanahan is a FA -
Team A Bids - 1 Year/$8,000,000 per season
Team B Bids - 3 Years/$3,000,000 per season
While $9,000,000(Team B) is a higher monitary value, Team A would win the bid based on a higher per season salary.
- In the event of a monitary "tie" while bidding on a player, the team who is offering more years on the contract will obtain the player.
Example: Brendan Shanahan is a FA -
Team A Bids - 1 Year/$8,000,000 per season
Team B Bids - 3 Years/$8,000,000 per season
Team B would win the bid based on more contract years at the same salary per season
- In the event of a monitary "tie" while bidding on a player, where 2 teams or more offer the same amount in years and salary per season;
Example: Brendan Shanahan is a FA -
Team A Bids - 3 Years/$10,000,000 per season
Team B Bids - 3 Years/$10,000,000 per season
The player will be awarded to the team who accumulated the least points in the previous regular season, regardless of playoff appearances and/or playoff success. In the event all teams bidding on the player finished with the same amount of points, then the player will be awarded to the team that accumulated the least wins. In the event that all teams bidding on the player finsihed with the same amount of wins, then the player will be awarded to the team that accumulated the least goals
